Sarah is an anti-semite

I just found out that Sarah is a proud anti-semite. This may seem shocking, but read me through:
First, she says she doesn't like kosher pickles. Second, even more appalling, she doesn't like Adam Sandler, and I'm not talking about those gay films that no one likes, but the good ones like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. And lastly, she's dating a blue-eyed blond.
The evidence is overwhelming.

The latest insult from HomeSlaves

I hate HomeSense. Apparently they, like all big box stores, reserve the right to fuck their employees right up the ass. The manager calls me last night at 7 PM to change my shift for today, which was scheduled to start at 8 AM. WTF? Way to give me a little bit of notice! So she tells me that I can't work 8-4:30 (which was the original schedule) because they don't have a truck coming (my fault how?) so I can either work 5:30-9:30 (cutting my hours for the day in half) or not at all. WTF'nF?? I was like: "So you're cutting my hours??" And she was basically like "Yeah, deal with it". WHAT A CUNT!! (I hate that word, but find it appropriate). I also hate working for the MAN. So I picked up a shift at the pharmacy instead and called her back this morning to tell her I couldn't work tonight. FUCK THEM.

That's my rant. Don't work for big boxes.

PS - Don't forget to vote January 23!

Even though I used to hate politics I'm excited to see how this campaign run will go. Should be interesting!

I agree with Sarah, it sucks with everyone so far apart. It would be nice if we could press the rewind button and start all over again and watch ourselves in reverse - now that would be funny!

Krista and I had a little romantic getaway in TO last weekend to do some Christmas shopping. We grabbed the bus late Friday afternoon and stayed until dinnertime Saturday. Her sister works for the Marriott in Ottawa so she got us a really sweet deal on a suite at the Marriott on Yonge. It was like an apartment with a king size bed and only for $99! We really didn't want to leave! So basically we just did some shopping along Yonge and in the Eaton Centre. It was a fun time but every store we went into was playing music like we had just stepped into a dance club. It was so loud everywhere, Krista and I kept yelling back and forth to each other. "What?! I can't hear you!" "What!?!" it was pretty funny, especially when the sale people agreed with us. Then why not turn it down? We totally felt like old people cuz no one else was complaining.
I won't bother to mention the general rudeness we encountered, cuz I already bitvhed to dave about it, but it was a pretty common occurence.

Last night went to the e-bar again for Arrested Development. This time I managed to drag Abena along and I think she had a pretty good time. I almost wasn't going to go but I'm sure glad I did cuz it was Steamwhistle promotion night (last week was Rickards) so Abena both got free beer and we got to keep the Steamwhistle glass it came in, and I won a draw for a Steamwhistle hat! Needless to say I was quite excited. So we both grabbed a late dinner there and chilled for about an hour. I really should have been working on my Urban Economics project (which I'm supposed to be doing right now) but I'd been on campus for about 10 hours and needed some laughter. Luckily for me, I just checked my email and my prof for Urban just gae us an extension on the big project. Yay! It was suppsoed to be due this Friday, teh last day of classes, but she's extended it until Dec. 10 cuz she knows we're all going crazy. So that's a relief cuz the final for that class is Monday and everyone else I know has another exam that day to, with only this weekend to study for it. So at least we can all breathe a little better.

Anyways, that's about all my news for now. Unfortunately we have lost all our snow:( The temperature went up to 15C by 11pm last night! But of course along with it comes rain:( I saw some pictures of road conditions in BC today. Looks pretty rough for driving, but it still makes me wish we had all our snow here. Ah well, soon enough!

Anyways, better get going. Must start the day.
Au revoir,
Sue

Holy crap I miss you guys.

Just thinking about you all in BC :)

P.S. It's snowing here! And we have our Christmas lights up :)

Haha...funny

This t-shirt reminded me of Amanda saying 'Arrrr'...and then something to do with a pirate.

Haha

...funny.

Dinner, pub crawl, and a hangover.

Sounds like a pretty good weekend, eh? Well, it was!

The dinner on Friday was a lot of fun. I prepared all of the stir fry veggies the night before and defrosted the chicken overnight so everything could be thrown into the pan when Jess go to my house. I also bought a lavish $9.00 bottle of blush wine to start the evening off:) The stir fry turned out perfectly (the veggies were a perfect consistency and there was just enough sauce and chicken). So we chatted while I cooked (she was very impressed by my organization and culinary skills) and then sat down in our tiny eating area and chatted some more! We talked about school (of course), old jobs, family, the meal we were eating, and other random stuff. The best thing is that I was able to totally be myself. I was naturally nervous for the first few minutes when she came over, but then I just settled down and our conversations were just really good. So we finished up, cleaned a bit, then headed into my room to chat some more! I gave her a mini tour of all of the things in my room (the London Underground poster, DVD's, pcitures, and CD's). It turns out that she really likes Coldplay and Lifehouse, but only knows some of their stuff so I gave her an old CD I had with old Lifehouse songs. I want to make her a CD of other Coldplay songs, but my stupid burner isn't connected for some reason and I only realzied it once I finished making the playlist which took me like 15 minutes (once I weeded out the crap and decided on an order...it's an intense process, OK! The songs have to flow properly otherwise it's just a bunch of songs thrown together!).

There were only two brief moments of silence and so I just asked her what she does when she's back home in Toronto and then we were back on track. It's expected that there be at least one moment of silence...I figure...

The combination of a very long day (and week, for that matter) and two glasses of wine pretty much knocked Jess out by about 9:30 so she headed home.

So all-in-all it was a fun night and we'll see where it goes. We're both retardedly busy this and next week so we'll probably only get together to grab a coffee or something over the next three weeks. But she did herself up and looked really good and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say! I did mention that one of our Chunnukah decorations (a paper candle) looks kinda phallic (it really looks like a giant blue and white johnson) and she sorta gave me a funny look...or a not-too-impressed look, but maybe she was just thrown off. Maybe I should have waited for like the second date to start with that stuff. Oh well:s

Last night was an amazing night. The JSO organized a pub crawl for the JSO's in Guelph, Waterloo, and McMaster. We went to The Ranch, Frank's, and Trappers over the course of the night. The trip was obviously to get to know other Jew's around close universities and man did we all get to know each other! We were given tshirs and sharpies to get people to sign your shirts and also as a really good icebreaker. It's much more fun asking 30 people to sign your shirt than going up to 30 people and saying 'hey, what's your name?', etc. But as the night went on, the comments on the shirts got funnier/more risque:) And by the end of the night I had two phone numbers on my shirt, a couple emails, a 'nice bum, where ya from' comment, the fact that I look like Topher Grace, a message for me to go home with someone, and and 'I'm so glad I met Jew' comment. I also got know know this one girl who goes to Mac and we really hit it off. And she was very 'fun' to dance with, too. IF ya know what I mean.

By the end of the night everyone pretty much knew everyone and we were all really upset to say goodbye after only 5 hours. One highlight of the night was watching this old (>35) chinese man dancing like there's no tomorrow at Trappers. He did the eyes shut, big smile on the face, hands going everywhere kind of dance. And every so often, he'd try and lip sync, but had no idea of the lyrics. The one thing that threw me off was, of all things for Jess to write on my shirt, she said 'I'm so glad you started coming to JSO events. Keep it up!! Jess'. I mean, it's nice and all, but not the most personal message. I'm not trying to read into things too much, but it's hard not to.

This morning, I awoke with a dizzying feeling and decided it would be a good idea to go to Golden Griddle with my housemates. It wasn't.

And that was my day!

I have to get back to work now:D

Schwat?

Hi, all :) Just a little update, as promised, from yours truly. Not too too much is new, but I thought I'd blog anyway.

First of all, we had fog, solid fog, for three days straight last week! I mean, white-out conditions, driving down the highway, can't see the stop lights conditions. I've never seen fog like it! The people out here are even saying that it was rare. My boss Richard told me that it's sometimes foggy like that, but that it's usually in the early morning and burned off by 11 or so. WEIRD! Holy crap! While looking for a picture of said fog I inadvertently checked the weather forecast and there's snow in it for here!! I know you Ontarians are probably cursing the white stuff, but I'm missing it out here. My parents sent me pictures and it's just beautiful at their place right now. *homesick* But alas, no fog picture.

In other news, I just gave Maggie a luxurious oatmeal shampoo bath for her itchies. She's had mad dandruff for the last week or so, probably from her iritating flea bites, and she's been itching like mad, so I thought I'd pamper her a bit. Hopefully it helps. I might be repeating the episode on Sunday. She doesn't seem to mind it too much. She'll sit right in the flow of the shower for me and she's stopped trying to get out of the tub ;) This might be stretching it, but I think she just might like it!

Anyway, I had my job interview at Shoppers today and it went amazingly. I think I blew the guy away. It's a good thing that pharmacy technicians are needed because I'm certainly not qualified for ANYTHING else! I figure if I get this job at Shoppers I'll have worked for almost all of the major pharmacy chains in Canada ;) NUTS. Anyway, it sounds like a decent position. He's saying Mon-Fri, 9-5. It's my dream position. It's a slow pharmacy so he doesn't expect to need me on evenings or weekends, but I don't mind one way or the other. I also talked him into paying me at least what I'm making at Save On right now, so I don't have to worry about taking a pay-cut (a major deal to someone who still owes their boyfriend $500, let alone their credit card and OSAP. Speaking of OSAP, have you heard from them yet, Manda? I'm pretty sure I updated my address with them and I'm sure they'll be knocking on our doors soon...).

Well, that's me :) I find out about my new job next week. I'm actually kinda worried about it. I've never left a job because I found a different one... I always quit because I'm moving or going to school or whatever... I don't want them to hate me for quitting! Remi says I'm being a retard and that they should be happy for me for finding something better suited for me right now, but I still feel like a dick.

H'ok. That's that ;) One more thing, DAVE: HELLO!! ARE YOU OUT THERE?? I'm dying to know what's going on with your new little chicklet!! Post soon :)

Job interview!

Just a quick post (I have to start an essay tonight - FINALLY). I have a job interview for a full-time dream position with Shoppers Drug Mart tomorrow. There are several good things about this job:

a) It'll be mostly Mon-Fri, 9-5 or 10-6
b) It's about 10 mins closer to my house
c) It's full-time! And it's only 1 job
d) It's not HomeSense!

So wish me luck :)

I'll post a longer blog soon :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know you guys have already done the thanksgiving thing, but it's my turn to eat turkey now.

I'm just chillin' at my brother's house with Breckin and company. Whatta cutie! Super personality, yet a bit cholicy (?). Anyway, things are going fine down here. The awkwardness is fading, and so far I have 3/4 of Shelby's other kids in love with me. They are all really fun to hang out with.

Sweet potatoes have been baked, pie is made, dips are ready, and thinking about turkey. I'm looking forward to dinner. And what am I thankful for? You guys, of course!

F@!k Me!

So I thought I'd just get that out of everyone's system, since you're probably all saying fuck you to me for not having posted in like, forever. So I was going to write last night when I got back from the bar and was surprisingly tipsy, but then I almost fell asleep so I scratched that idea. So . . . what's new . . .?
Well, I got a sweet co-op job working for the federal government with Public Works so I'm still trying to find a subletter for Jan-April. The first girl that came to see it was perfect and she really liked the place. We got talking right before she left and it turned out that she knew Brock. When I asked how she was very vague and just said "oh, you know, just around." So I go to tease Brock later that day about his getting around business and it turns out that he knows the girl cuz he's supposed to be subletting his place to her! Needless to say he was very pissed off that she had promised him she was taking his place, he had turned down other offers, and now she's looking to take my place. Anyways, it worked out that she did end up taking his place, and she even mentioned in her apology email that she had already given cheques to the other landlord. Then why did she even bother coming to my place?! WTF?! So that kinda pissed me off, but there are a couple other girls who are interested, one that has sent me her references, but the other's all interested, I gave her times to come see the place and no reply! So we'll see. So my parents came up this past weekend to visit me and my sister and take home some of my stuff. Its starting to get a little bare in my room :(
Hey, I got my grad pics done. I did my outdoor shots and group shots at the end of October, and did my studio shots this morning. Hope they turn out ok. I got my proofs back from the outdoors and group and they turned out well. I wasn't even planning on doing my outdoors when I showed up for Maria's group pic, but they had a cancellation so it worked out well. I'll post a group shot for you guys - Brock's in it!
I thought I might lose touch with him since I embarrassed myself at the end of last year and we only have one night class together this semester, but he just lives a couple blocks away so we drive together sometimes and chat along online so that's nice :)

Things are pretty busy right now at school, finishing up (or not yet starting!) final papers and projects. Went on a HREM-Marketing trip to Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls last Thursday night. Its only supposed to take about 1.5-2 hours to get there, but with such shitty weather, it ended up taking 4 hours!! We got stuck on the big long bridge in St. Catherines for 2 hours!! We crawled up it and literally slide down it. It was ridiculous. A lot of people desperately had to pee while stuck on the bridge and some of the guys, included Jeff from 2nd year, peed in the bottles they brought for drinking and then poured it out the window! Gross but I would have done the same thing if it was as easy for us girls.

So I've started going to the e-bar on Monday nights now! When Dave and I were there a couple of weeks ago we saw a sign up saying that they were playing Arrested Development from the very beginning on Monday nights, so I went last week with Brock, grabbed dinner and some drinks as we were both madly trying to finish our law papers before our night class, which luckily enough he only lectures till 8:30 instead of 10pm. Brock hadn't seen it before so I was quite excited to show off my little baby! And Mill St. organic brewery were given out samples and hats so we got to drink a bit for free, plus all Canadian-made beer is a dollar off sunday-tuesday! Sweet! So I went back to the e-bar last night, by myself, which I really don't mind at all, and kinda got a little drunk. Which is funny cuz I only had two drinks, but one was a full pint from Rickards which they were giving out for free by the reps (who were quite cute and I got to chat with - the friendly bartender introduced us). So I hung out there by myself for about an hour and a half and then somewhat stumbled home. Good times :)

So I guess that basically brings you guys up to date. Oh, before I forget, anyone up for Sarah Harmer, Friday, Dec, 9 at 8pm at War Mem? Eh?? Amanda?? Nudge-nudge. She's doing an acoustic version I believe. Tickets are $30 plus $1 surcharge. Maybe you'd like to come?

Anyways, should start some work sometime tonight. Gotta make up 30 mc questions for my TA class. You wouldn't believe how long and painful it is. It sucked doing it for the midterm and that was when there were only 6 presentations. This time its going to be 14. Yay :(

So better go get on that. Will make sure to post a little more often. Not to worry, when I move back home for the winter (and will finally have the internet at home!) I will probably be posting every day.

Until next time, keep fit and have fun!

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Whereya-at whereya-at now there you go there you go there you go it's peanut butter jelly peanut butter jelly peanut butter jelly and a baseball bat

Please tell me that someone saw the new Family Guy tonight!! Peter was upset that Stewie was mad with him so Brian offers to cheer him up. He leaves the screen and then comes back wearing the banana and starts doing the dance and the original online cartoon voice takes over and starts the song with Brian dancing. They also had the words at the bottom. I nearly lost it and my housemate had no idea what was going on. I later showed him the online version and he laughed.

It was freaking brilliant!!

OK, back to essay.

And I spoke to Jess on the phone earlier and officially made my first bad joke! I will now think before I speak to her. ooooooo

Shake that laughy taffy!

Did you know there is a song out there that wants you to shake your laughy taffy? I just heard it for the first time yesterday and giggled the whole time it was on.

Something else I just learned: to satisfy you hunger, you will soon be able to buy Foot Long Snoop Doggs! Ah, I'm still laughing about this! It's hilarious what is done now with celebrities. Honestly, Snoop has now become king of the commercial world. Foot long Snoop Doggs... hahaha! ( http://www.allhiphop.com/hiphopnews/?ID=5039 )

Oh, and here's a trivia question for you. Name the movie:

1: "What was that ruckus?!"
2: "What ruckus?"
1: "I was in my office when I heard a ruckus!"
3: "Could you describe the ruckus, sir?"

Bonus points if you can name who says each line. I'm counting on at least one of you to get this. ;)

In case you couldn't tell, I've been saving these up just so I can post them and hear your comments. I'm home alone again while my parents are in North Carolina, introducing themselves to their very first grandkid and the mother. I head down there on Tuesday. I'm so excited! Not only do I get to do the very same, but I also get to housesit while I'm down there. Seriously, my brother's condo doesn't have enough room for me, so I'm staying at his friends' house, but they are leaving for the holiday, so I get their house to myself, too. Pretty wack, but I'm sure I'll be happy to have it once I spend a few days with Breckin and the 4 other kids. I may be related to one, and closely connected to the others, but phew - that's a lot of kids!

So, I'm home alone, and I haven't changed out of my pjs for almost two days. I have to later today, though, 'cause I told myself I was going to go for a hike, plus I have to babysit tonight. So, either way, I'll have to leave my comfy sweatpants at home.

What have I been up to lately? Buying tires, learning about some pretty and not so pretty minerals, reading about animal behavior, raking leaves, chillin' with my parents and Penelope, seeing some movies (Shopgirl, In Her Shoes (tres bien!)), and I think that about covers it. Nothing too exciting, but it's keeping me busy.

In other news, my Dad had his first PSA after his radiation treatment. It ended up being about the same, if not higher than when he started radiation. So, what that means is that there's a-cancer a-brewin' somewhere in his body and we don't know where. His next step is to start lupron shots, which are supposed to slow down growth, but not cure. I think this would be the case until the doctors can determine where the cancer is, if possible. So, needless to say, I'm a bit down, but trying to remain optimistic. I mean, this could all be a helluva lot worse, and there are plenty of people out there that are living on with this. But, when it hits home, it's hard to remember that sometimes. My Dad's reaction is that he may have to spend his money quicker than he planned for. I just hope it doesn't have to be too quick.

Anyway, you guys remain my main source of happiness. And I'm really glad that Amanda and Sarah are posting on a regular basis. Sorry I was absent for a while, computer troubles didn't help. I'll try to not make a habit of it.

One more thing, I don't know how you guys feel about this, but I absolutely hate(!) that they are calling INXS that name, even though it's some crappyass reality kid as lead vocals. I'm sorry, but if you don't have Michael Hutchence as your lead singer, you are not INXS, even if there are 5 other surviving members. The band is not what it was w/Michael. Now, to be honest, I haven't heard the new single they put out, but I'm pretty positive it won't be near the caliber of their previous work as the honest and true INXS. And I guess you could argue that no band with a new member is the same, but when a good portion of a band's sound relies on the unique vocals of their lead singer, there is an even greater change. So, anyway, I'm miffed about that.

So, Thanksgiving is next week, and I leave Tuesday, so I'll try to post again before that. Have a good weekend folks!

Why me?

So today was fun in that not at all sort of way. But I find myself in good spirits nonetheless. I took it all in stride. Here it is:

On my way to work yesterday the brake light came on on my dash. It later turned off so I thought it was a glitch. I saw it on the way home from work as well. "Hmmm," I thought, "weird..." But I came home and forgot about it. It was on again this morning, all the way to work, so I called my mechanic and then had to leave work and drive down to his shop and have him drive me back to work. He told me that he would have a look at it and let me know. I told him I was off work at 2 (this happened around 10:30 AM). At 2:20 PM, I finally get ahold of the guy and he's just getting it in to look at it. Fine, I say, call me at work (keep in mind, I was off work at 2 PM and it is now after 2 PM) when you've checked it out. He calls me back at 2:45 (I have been sitting at work reading a book, as my shift ended half an hour ago) and tells me that he must have fucked something up when replacing my brakes and that it's leaking brake fluid. He goes on to say that that car will have to stay in the shop overnight, but does not offer me a ride home. Fine. The pharmacist is off at 3:30 and has offered to give me a ride home. Great, so I sit around and read for another 45 minutes waiting to go home.

I think it is prudent to mention here that it was a gorgeous fucking day here today! About 15 degrees, clear blue sky, and I had the afternoon OFF, at least I thought I did.

Anyway, by the time I get home it's 4:00 PM and getting dark. As I leave the car to come up to my house I realize that the car guy has my keys. I freak a little. The pharmacist offers to give me a ride back to the auto shop, but he has to catch a ferry at 4:30 to go back to Vancouver and there was no way he'd make it if he drove me around some more, so I say, I'll break in or something. But this house is not like the 6-9-5 and there is no way to break in. Remi and I are anal because we live in the ghetto, so all the windows and doors are on lock-down. So I pop across the street to our nice old neighbours who let me use their phone. I was planning on calling the mechanic to have him bring me my keys. But his line is busy for like 15 minutes. So my neighbour (I'd call him a Godsend if I was a believer) drove me all the way out there and all the way back and actually showed me some nice parks on the way :) As you can see, I'm in my house. The only catch is that I work out at HomeSlaves tomorrow so I'll have to find some way to get out to my car in the morning to make it in to work for noon. DRAG.

But like I said, I handled all this in stride and my mood is no worse for the wear. It's just funny is all and I thought you could all have a laugh at my expense. Hey! What else is new? It's a story anyway. Oh, and the reason I couldn't wait for Remi and his keys or just go to his work and pick them up is because he's in Vancouver for the day at the aquarium. He's not due home until 7 and Maggie was inside all by herself. But it all worked out.

And I'm back in the game!

Allllright (in Quagmire voice).

So I finally got up the nerve to ask Jessica for dinner and she said "yeah, that'd be really nice". And that's all I really remember from the conversation. But let me go back a bit to build it up. Jess has a class after my 8:30 lecture so I knew I'd get plenty of chances to ask her out, but not too many because then it'd lose the spark. So last Thursday I had the perfect chance to ask when we chatted for about five minutes after my class. Every second we spoke I just kept telling myself to just ask her out! But I didn't and ended up just saying 'see you later' and then chatting with Dino who was actually standing right next to me the whole time, but i didn't even see him...I was zoned in! So when she left I pounded my leg with my fist, Dino gave me a weird look, I told him what I was too chicken to do, and that was that. So yesterday (Tuesday) I decided that I was just going to do it...but she wasn't outside of the class when it ended! So I left with my friend Iris and when we got out of Rozanski I saw her coming towards me and all I did was smile and say hey. So Iris literally grabbed my backpack, turned me around, and pushed me (twice) back in Jess's direction. So I ran back to her, stopped her, and asked if she wanted to have dinner on Friday. She said that she was going back to Toronto this weekend but next Friday would be good. So I figure I'll make a good stir fry and chat it up!

I finally got the fucking nerve to ask someone out! And now the fun begins:)

Otherwise, it has been another pretty dull week. Lots of school work...hanging around the library and my bedroom doing work...watching Leafs' games...re-watching my movies (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest gets better every time I see it). I had tennis playoffs on Sunday and was eliminated by the eventual champion. I played pretty well, but couldn't control the flow of the game and lost 6-3. It was fun, but the worst part is that the guy was a Senators fan.

Lots of things happening to my family...good things...Nicole (the one getting married in September) has been wedding dress shopping and I can only imagine how I'll react when I see her in her dress. She also asked my other sister to be her maid-of-honour. This is all so new to all of us that every step of the process is exciting:) And Karen is moving in with her boyfriend at the end of the month and, when Nicole moves out, we'll all be three subway stops away from each other (or about 7 minute drives from the furthest point). And then Karen had a job interview for a really good placement as a social worker five minutes from her new apartment. So things are finally looking brighter for us :) Long overdue.

I really think that's all...I have a quiz in 10 hours so I'm going to finish studying and head to bed. I've been having a doozy of a time falling asleep recently. It takes me either 2 minutes, or up to two hours to pass out. The other night I went to bed at 11 and fell asleep at 2am. It was so frustrating! I must have tossed fifteen times and eventually ripped all of my covers off. I went through two full albums (Abbey Road and No Name Face) and eventually started to watch One Flew until I passed out. Oh, speaking of Lifehouse, for those interested, they have a DVD coming out on the 22nd. It's of a live performance and has all of their videos. If you can rent it...rent it! Although I'm starting to think that you can't rent music DVD's...anyhoo, I'll let you know how it is.

Peace out:p And speaking of peace out, did you know that Forman and Kelso aren't on That 70's Show anymore? How can the show survive without those two??

OK, I'm really going to go this time.

Dave

Parasite-free

Parasite free? I hope so, because one of the little shit-cocks got me on my shin, and it's a pain in the ass. I have been studying for a test, but I got the hiccups, so decided to take a break. In the mean time, it's wreaking havoc on my typing. My good news for the day is that I was offered work. That's right, offered. They came to me. Well, she came to me. (That'll bug Sarah, I have a non-sexual crush on one of my profs). Not much, just 50 or so hours over a semester, but fuck!, it's still work in my field, and it pays better than scamming people down at the pawn shop. I hope I have enough time for it. It won't be glamourous, just sorting through a foul smelling benthic sample, but that'll shine on my crappy resumé. At any rate, that brings me one step clower to being out and about with little beasts like that one above. And maybe it'll help me afford christmas presents.

That's all for now. Except for this picture of boobies.

Wormy poop

So Maggie has worms. I noticed a nice platyhelminthes in her poop on Saturday. Here is a couple pictures for all of you who didn't have to suffer through invert I. Bottomline, gross. I mean, WTF? I'm bending down to pick up a very stinky pooh and what's looking up at me? A nice flatworm. At least it was small, which means we caught the problem relatively early. The thing is, while Maggie most likely got it by eating poop (which, I hate to admit, she is prone to do), fleas can also be a vector for flatworms. This means that if an infected flea jumped into my tuna caserole and I ate it, I could get worms!!! Sick, eh? Anyway, so we'll be taking Maggie to the vet on Wednesday to get ripped off. Oh, I mean, to have her dewormed and to get ripped off, I mean, buy, flea treatment. I really wish vets weren't so gawd dam expensive, yo!

In other news, nothing's new. I had a depressed day today. That's a day where I basically sit around self-loathing and loathing in general. Sometimes I just feel plain useless. I really miss being in school and having that proverbial "purpose". Know what I'm saying? I can't wait to be a student again!

Anyway, that's my little update. Hope you enjoyed it ;)

Something else new to me in BC...

Remembrance Day is a stat holiday out here! Places either work on reduced hours or are closed altogether. I think this is a good thing that should spread to Ontario. The veterens deserve it, I think.

This font is called trebuchet, I'm not sure what this has to do with medieval war engines. I saw this today, and it made me think of ye olde 6-9-5. Hope you like it...

And the hits just keep on coming!

So today I'm at work and while I've been thinking about this for a few days, my worst nightmares came true today: the other tech at Save On is done school at the end of this month... That means, no more hours for Sarah! And next semester she only has two classes and they're both in the morning, which means she can work pretty much every day. Ergo, I'm fucked. So let the jobhunt begin (again). Once again, life in the real world sucks. Luckily for me, one of the other Save Ons lost a tech recently for shady reasons I will not discuss, so hopefully I can get in there full-time (which is what she was when she got canned). THAT store is only about a 5 minute drive from here and full-time would rock the body that rocks the par-tay, know what I'm sayin' *whicka whicka*.

Anyway, so we'll see. OH! And to top it all off, I'm getting audited?? Why? I would love to know. My tax return was miniscule and they probably ripped me off because my dad filed it. I probably could have gotten more $$ if I'd had an accountant do it! The bad news is, that I had 6 days from receipt of the letter to get on the horn and call them with my info, but it's been like a month because they had an old address that even my parents aren't using anymore! The only reason they found it was because they finally went to clean out an old P.O. Box before it expired! And then my mom had to mail it out here! So, I'm fucked again. They want to see my tuition receipts, which is fine, but now that I've waited this long they may be looking to make me pay back those taxes I received from paying tuition... *sigh* Ever deeper into the shit pile I go... When will it end??

And to the government I say: "Damn you!! Damn you all to hell!" (this is scene from planet of the apes when Heston realizes that the apes have taken over planet earth and that he's not just on some ape planet)

So, anyway... Nothing else is going on. I'm getting lots of hours at both jobs right now, so I should be thankful for that at least, with Xmas coming up and everything. Oh! Speaking of xmas/channamus, I was thinking that we could maybe do a secret santa type idea for this year. I'm Broke (with a capital B) so I can't afford gifts for everyone. Let me know what you guys thinkeroo :)

*hugs* to all and post!

Look at what I found!

While I was watching Arrested Development I found this:

http://coneofignorance.dyndns.org/arrested_quiz/arrested_quiz.php

Who is Karl Weathers? Anyway, have fun!

Oh, and my favorite line from tonight was "The jury's still out on... science." Care to share yours?

Dave's housemate rant

I'll preface by saying that my housemates aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but they just aren't my kind of people! I've been having a good time with Chris because he's the only other non-Aggie and we like the same tv shows and music...so we've been getting along fine. But I just can't have really fun conversations that I have with you guys. And although i can obviously tolerate living with these people, I just feel so restrained and so when I hang out with the only remaining Guelphie, Sue, all of my sarcasm comes out and it's such a good release! It's just at the point where I really want to live with people who are more 'uppy' and reckless in the speaking department and who don't watch CMT. I know I chose this house and I really don't have much to complain about, but I still have my needs!

I think I could go on, but I don't want to sound bitter...just a little tiresome and the same old and the lack of unpredictability I'd find making taco's with you guys! mmmm...meat that's supposed to be for taco's but which I eat before they go in the taco's and then people get angry.

Right right. Back to....Econ. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Dave

...seriously...I like Econ. Did I sound sarcastic?

Just another Sunday

The Leafs' game isn't even televised! Stupid Leafs TV trying to get people to buy Digital Cable and then subscribe to a package that includes Leafs TV just so they can get revenue from 12 games! So I have to listen to the game on AM 640 on the internet because my stereo doesn't pick up AM in Guelph.

So what's new in my life...my tennis match was cancelled today because my opponent went camping so I finished the season 5-1 (the loss coming from me cancelling last weeks match) and the playoffs start next week. I'm really anxious to see how I match up with the top singles B players once the pressure's on! My serve has been pretty weak mainly because I don't want to double fault, but then I end up tapping the ball and hitting it into the net resulting in a double fault. It's a vicious cycle!

Holy crap my computer is slow. It's four letters behind my typing! I also have spyware and I'm downloading Broken Social Scene songs on LimeWire, but it's still very very slow.

I finally got once of those bracelets that everyone wears. It's a cancer bracelet dedicated to Tom Cheek (the Jays announcer to lost his battle with cancer) and it's made of real rawhide and baseball stiches. Looks pretty cool. And in turn makes ME look cool! :p

So onto girl things because I'm sure you all want to know what's going on in THAT part of my life (instead of my frustrations with the Leafs). I don't remember if I mentioned Jess from the JSO (a different JSO girl this time), but we hung out Friday night with her brother (who was visiting from Mac) after Shul in downtown Guelph and a really good dinner put on the by people who ran the service. She lives two minutes from my house and about 15 from my house in Toronto. We just chatted about random stuff and she has a good sense of humour and got my sarcasm and returned it as well. And she kept leaning against me when she whispered stuff in Shul and then when I left her place I think she was leaning in for a hug and touched my arm and me (being a COMPLETE MORON) said 'see you later' and left her house without hugging her! WTF'NF! So I am actually going to pursue this person and not expect anything to fall on my lap and just suck it up and ask her if she wants to have dinner or me make dinner. But who the hell just LEAVES a house of the girl he likes the way I did!! Bahhhhhh ...so that's that. I'll keep you posted.

My Mom and my sister came to visit me today to bring my phone that I left in Toronto last week. While most parents bring food for their kid living on their own, my Mom brings me a board to put under my computer and a jar of pureed garlic. And while garlic is food, you can't make a meal of it like my housemates do with their brownies and chicken and pies. ...mmm garlic pie. Maybe with the right ingredients...

Damn the Leafs sound awful even on the radio! Come on!!!

School's been going well. I'm finally the guy who says he has done poorly on a test and then actually does really well. The past three assignments/midterms I thought I failed (as in actually positive I had failed miserably) turned out not too shabby! I have one big thing due each week until school ends so I have my work cut out for me. But I've been filling time going skating with Sue for half an hour Tuesday through Friday and watching hockey. I've spent pretty much every waking hour in the library or at the UC sipping a coffee (or Iced Cap during our November heatwave) and doing crosswords and Su Doku puzzles.

I can't think of many more happy haps. It gets dark so early!! I know to expect it, but I'm still surprised that it's 5:40 and it looks/feels like 10pm! I feel like I should be going to bed now.

There is a DVD of the Trailer Park Boys' X-Mas special coming out soon and I suggest you all go and rent it. Ricky is priceless in this episode.

Song of the day: Dead Disco by Metric. Good, catchy song.

K bye!

22 and a half

I'd just like to remind everyone that today's my half birthday. So, happy half birthday to me! I'm going to have fondue tonight with my friends John and Pualani, so I guess you could say I'm commemorating, though I forgot about the date when we planned this. It just worked out. Yeah, it's just a half birthday, but I might as well celebrate.

I also wanted to post something since the page seems a bit neglected lately. Maybe I'll add a picture to liven things up... there, that helps.

No real news to update with. I'm having frustrations with my shower right now, the one I had was leaking, so I bought a new one without realizing how crappy-ass it was, so I took it back, and in the process of putting the old one back on, it broke, so I went to get another head from the basement shower and when I took it off, it broke, so my dad made some adjustments and now I have a shower head that looks a bit frankenstein-like, but it doesn't leak, and the water comes out above my head (wow, really long sentence!). This is supposed to be a temporary solution, but knowing this family, it'll probably remain on there for some time. At least it works and I don't have to remain dirty for another 3 days.

Okay, since I have nothing else to talk about but my showerhead, I had better end this. Parting remark: I know everyone is busy busy, but that's no reason to not post, this only took me 10 minutes or so. It's mindless, but keeps the interest, so what are you waiting for? Post your own rant about your showerhead or nailclippers or whatever it may be. The-th-th-th-that's all folks.

Humph!

You guys aren't giving me much to procrastinate with!! Now I'll have to start my readings for psych!

A little update on me first... I am having a hell of a time registering for classes next semester because everything is full!! It's whack! Unlike Guelph, with selection windows, apparently you can pick classes for the whole year in August! So I left it waiting for a window to open and now I'm fucked! The pathology I want is full, but luckily the waiting list still had spots, so I'm registered for that. The only problem with that is that the system won't let me register for a back up class in case I don't get that one. I'm currently registered for 6 credits, but 3 of those are this semester and 3 are next... It won't let me do any more than that! So I've emailed to find out what the deal is. I should be able to pick several courses online! BAH!!

So there's my new dilemma. In other disappointing news, I have to do the WHOLE application process for pharmacy over again. They didn't hold on to ANYTHING! IDIOTS! I told them I was reapplying, they could have at least held onto my transcripts and PCAT scores!! WTF??

That is all :)

P.S. I miss you guys!
You guys are the other peas in MY pod :) *hugs*
